"Every woman deserves a man who will ruin her lipstick, not her mascara." -Charlotte Tilbury
If I were only allowed to have one beauty product for the rest of my life, it would without a doubt be mascara. Sure, I love my bright eyeliners and my rosy blush, but aside from my grande blonde roast I chug down every morning, mascara is the only product that makes it look like I'm awake.

I'm a huge fan of non-waterproof mascara, as it's easier to take off at night and seems less harsh on my lashes. It comes off with water whereas waterproof stays on for what seems like days and crusts on to every last lash.
On any normal day, I use Le Volume de Chanel in 20 Écorces. No- I don't use black mascara! It's way too harsh against my light features, and I've stuck with brown ever since my mom convinced me out of my semi-goth stage in 7th grade.

When I'm headed out at night, however, I use three products on my lashes to give a more dramatic effect! Here's my easy-to-follow three-step routine for perfect lashes.
1. Mascara Base. For the fullest lashes, mascara base is a must! You'll look like an ice queen when you apply it, and all you need a light coat- too much of this and your lashes will be clumpy by step 3. I recommend this one.

2. Mascara. Wait for your mascara base to dry by applying some of your skin makeup products, then apply your mascara of choice. I like to move the wand back and forth horizontally to achieve a fuller look. I also put on two or three coats, waiting about 60 seconds in between applications.

Like I said, I love Chanel's Le Volume mascara. The wand is really thick and I think it applies pretty smoothly. However, my whole life before working at Chanel, I used drugstore mascara which worked pretty much the same.
3. Waterproof Mascara. To keep all of the mascara in place and to avoid any oils on your skin causing it to smear, I like to apply a thin layer of waterproof mascara. Just a couple swipes and you're done! Rimmel ScandalEyes Retroglam from Target is only $3.99 and works like a charm.

Pro tip: If you accidentally get any dots of mascara on your eyelid or below your eye, use a dab of eye moisturizer to wipe it away. Fixing a mistake and preventing wrinkles all at once-- MILF prep at its finest.
Whether it be a quick coat of mascara for work or class, or a full five coats for a night out, mascara is the one beauty product every girl needs to catch everyone else's eye!
