FIGHTING A HANGOVER

"I don't need another drink." -Not Me Last Night

It's 7 a.m.

You can't sleep in any later because your head is pounding and your stomach is nauseous. Any exposure to light immediately induces a pounding migraine. And the phrase, "OMG let's take shots!" keeps running through your head like a miserable montage of bad decisions.

You're hungover af.

When it seems like the idea of productivity is about as dead as Brangelina, just use these three simple steps to have a semi-decent day after a night of binge drinking. I'm here to save you from spending 12 daylight hours in bed. De rien!

1. Oatmeal face mask. This DIY mask is so easy to make, and chances are that you already have the ingredients in your pantry. At first, I was pretty skeptical of slathering milk all over my face, but it's actually insanely refreshing.

What you need:

  • 1 tbsp whole rolled oats (helps to heal blemishes & repairs and softens damaged skin)

  • 2 tbsp whole or 2% milk (natural moisturizer and exfoliator)

  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional) [helps to combat acne]

  • drizzle of honey (optional) [natural anti-bacterial and anti-aging]

Pour the oats into a bowl, followed by the milk. I added the optional cinnamon as well as a drizzle of honey because of all of their amazing natural benefits! Stir together until the mixture is smooth and even.

Begin by washing your face with warm water to rid your skin of any last-night-oils and open pores. Apply to your face and neck for about 20 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

Soft and glowing skin in lieu of a day with hungover, dull skin? We'll take it!

2. Ice Roller. This is one of the better impulse purchases I've made recently. This article convinced me to order it for $12 off Amazon and it was anything but disappointing, especially on mornings when my face and eyes feel puffy from tequila shots and late night pizza.

Applying this cold therapy helps to soothe inflammation, reduce redness and energize your skin. Roll in an upwards direction and you'll feel rejuvenated in seconds.

3. Water. Even though this isn't technically a beauty product, it might as well be! Chug down some H2O to get some fluids back into your system and combat your current dehydrated state. Whether you're hungover or not, water is your best friend when it comes to clear, glowing skin, so get sipping!

No longer a freshman who can bounce right back in the AM after who-knows-how-many shots the night before, I am pushing 23 and my hangovers are down right debilitating. However, I've done a little research for those of you who are no longer in your teens to make the morning after seem a little more bearable. Slap that face mask on and order than ice roller! You won't be disappointed.

Xx,

M.L.F.
