"The relationship you have with yourself sets the tone for every other relationship you have." -Jane Travis

Move over ice roller! There's a new facial roller in town- but it's actually really, really old.
Meet the jade roller. As The Strategist wrote, it's an ancient tool that has been used by empresses and high-society members in China since the 17th century who refer to it at the "Stone of Heaven." Sounds pretty good so far.
So what is it? This paint brush-like tool is a complexion-perfecting roller made from jade stone, which is believed to have healing and protective properties. Jade is also naturally cool, which helps tighten and firm skin.
The benefits don't stop there. Here's are the four best perks of jade rolling:
1. Allows for easier absorption of moisturizers. This means you will use less product per application! Think of your face skin cells as roof shingles, layered and layered on top of each other. So, as you roll upwards, you're pushing the moisturizing underneath each cell, allowing the moisturizer to be fully absorbed. Now there is a less chance of the product evaporating or just rubbing off onto your pillowcase.
2. Increases circulation. More circulation means less wrinkles because more blood flow in the face gives the appearance of plump, firm and well-rested skin.
3. Reduces under-eye darkness. The naturally cool temperature of the jade stone causes the blood vessels underneath your skin to contract, therefore reducing the bags under your eyes. These bags are not designer and that is the last type of bag we would ever want.
4. Massages your face. If anything, the jade roller is great for reducing tension in certain spots of your face where you may be squinting or clenching your teeth. It loosens your facial muscles and gives them a break, making skin noticeably less puffy and helps to define your jaw and cheek bones.
Place your jade roller in the fridge or freezer when you're not using it to really take full advantage of its cooling benefits. Cleanse your face with a gentle cleanser, apply your preferred moisturizer, and get rolling! Experts recommend five minutes of rolling about three times per week for noticeable results.
Remember: upwards and outwards. You never want to push your skin in a direction that you don't want it to settle into.

I like my jade roller from Herbivore Botanicals, which I ordered for only $25. There are cheaper options on Amazon, but paying at least $20 is my recommendation, as some options that are cheap are imitation jade which won't give the same benefits.
Happy rolling!
